GB3BS

- Change of Frequency -

The Bristol 70cms Repeater Group have contacted the Bristol NHS Trust with a proposed date to install the new repeater equipment at Cossham. The date we have proposed is Saturday 19th April 2008.

Once we have conformation from the trust that this date is acceptable we will place a conformation notice both on this forum and the www.gb3bs.com website.

We would also like to make it clear that this is a proposed date and if necessary this date will be cancelled if we find any last minute issues.

Below is a list of tasks that will be taking place on installation day.

10:00 - Equipment arrive on site
10:30 - Final Transmissions and closedown messages on GB3BS (RB10)
(Make sure you have said your farewell's before this time!!!)
10:35 - Power down of GB3BS(RB10)
11:00 - Removal of existing logic system
12:00 - Break for lunch (and to let the screw drivers cool down!)
13:00 - location of new equipment into racking.
14:00 - Power up and test transmissions of GB3BS (RU68)
15:00 - Repeater placed into “RUN MODE”
16:00 - Onsite monitoring.
17:00 – 00:00 Depends on how the day goes

Please note:
During this would we would appreciate that no transmissions are made on either on GB3BS's existing frequencies or new frequencies during the above times unless invited to as part of the testing process, if you are available on Saturday afternoon to assist with reports it would be welcome.

We would also like to remind everyone that Repeater channels are reserved for just that REPEATERS, and Simplex QSO's should not be undertaken on these channels. This includes RB10 once the channel becomes free.

We hope that once the new repeater becomes active, it will continue to provide Bristol and surrounding areas with a level of service we have maintained with the existing repeater for the last 34 years. We also hope that existing members (AND NEW MEMBERS) continue to support the group!

After much personal time and effort by Mark and I, it will be great to finally get the box installed and on air at its new home.

Users will also be interested to know that the basic operation of the repeater will be very similar to the existing repeater, with the same 1750Hz Access and 118.8Hz CTCSS access, time out is still set to 4 minutes and there are still 2 repeater pips, the 1st is the timer reset.

A full list of repeater features will be placed on the main www.gb3bs.com website in due course.

Finally please remember as with all new things there may be the odd teething problem. A follow up posting will be made with full instruction on how to supply reports once we “Go Live”.
